1. IDEA in cooperation with the University of Amsterdam is organizing the Euro Youth Festival of Ideas. The festival will take place in Amsterdam , 16-17 March 2007.

The goal of European Youth Speak Conference festival is to exchange ideas on how European Youth can be involved in the process of shaping the future of Europe and how European ideas and policies relating to youth can be communicated with European Youth. The festival will take the form of the first IDEA Model European Youth Parliament. The event will start off with an address by official guests and hosts of the event. We will then provide a short introduction of the Model European Youth Parliament procedures and rules. The participants will then present, discuss and vote on pre-prepared resolutions. A group of judges will select the most effective parliamentarians who will continue their debates in the final plenary session! Winners will be awarded prizes. We will announce the topics for discussion and the resolutions selected by the European Youth Speak project partners by February 1, 2007. You do not need to be part of the project in order to participate in this event. You can suggest a topic for discussion or register to participate in the EuroYouth Model European Youth Parliament by emailing Jurate Motiejunaite at jmotiejunaite@idebate.org (deadline - February 28, 2007) The participants have to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. The EuroYouth festival of ideas is a part of the European Youth Speak project in which IDEA is partnering with debate organizations from Czech Republic , Estonia , Latvia and Slovakia , and the HREA organization in the Netherlands .

Students enter into a challenging exchange of ideas with today’s global leaders about the pressing economic and societal questions of our time. Competitors in this year’s challenge are invited to submit their thoughts and visions on the theme of the 37th St. Gallen Symposium, "The Power of Natural Resources". The authors of the 200 best contributions will be invited to Switzerland to add their own perspective to the St. Gallen Symposium in the company of 600 entrepreneurs, top managers, politicians and scientists from more than 60 nations. The St. Gallen Symposium carries accommondation and travel expenses for the 200 selected students. Furthermore, the most outstanding pieces of work will receive the St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award, which is endowed with a EUR 20,000.– prize, and will be presented to the audience by their authors. Within the framework of the theme you may choose between one of the following subtopics:- Natural resources as a power factor - the implications for economic, political and social development worldwide - How can the change to sustainability be achieved?A programme for the 21st century - Entrepreneurial responses to the global scarcity of resources
