The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is seeking a motivated individual to assist our civic program team. The person would work closely with our civic programming staff to assist in organizing trainings for Ukrainian NGOs, administering grants, and translation. The position is part time, 10 hours a week, and will receive a stipend of $150 per month.

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a nonprofit organization working to strengthen and expand democracy worldwide, with offices in nearly 60 countries. Since 1992, NDI has conducted programs in Ukraine with democratically oriented political parties, elected officials, and civic activists.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist the Ukraine Civic team in organizing and implementing civic training programs;
· Assist in administering our small grant program;
· Translating reports, press releases, and proposals;
· Assist in the preparation and drafting of periodical reports
· Provide administrative support to the civic program including filing, faxing, copying and mailings;
· Conduct special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Must be fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian;
· Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, preferably in Foreign Languages;
· Have an interest in promoting democracy in Ukraine;
· Must be well-organized and skilled at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
· Must have excellent writing and oral communication skills
· Must be flexible, diligent and team-oriented
· Must be detail oriented
· Available to work 10 hours a week
· Computer knowledge, including MS Word and the Internet
